In February 2016, as part of a strategic agreement signed with Hyatt Hotels and Resorts to develop Hyatt Place-branded hotels in Brazil, Hyatt Place Macaé was developed in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

The 93,348 sqft / 8,951 m² project consisted of 141 rooms and amenities such as a café, pool, and gym, and a 1,528 sqft / 142 m² event hall.

Strategically located in the city of Macaé, the hotel was developed close to Petrobras's operational headquarters for the Campos Basin and designed to meet increasing demand in the region. It was completed in March 2018.
